I have the cutest room of them all [Clark Hall Dorm Tour]

JEEBUS! I can't believe it's been a whole entire month since I've touched my blog. :'( It saddens me, because I  never have time to just do what I love the most.College has been good to me, though it keeps me busy 24/7, I am enjoying myself. This is the first time my social life has EVER been this good.

Anywhoo, I wanted to share with you guys my dorm room, and to any incoming freshman of UNT who want to know what the dorms looks like. So here's my dorm room tour of my adorable little side of the room in Clark Hall at UNT aka, University of North Texas. :)

Cuuuute right?! Black and turquoise are my main and only two colors. My room back home was 100% turquoise, so I decided to switch it up a bit. I wanted a some what sophisticated, young adult vibe (pretend the bows don't count). Since I'm in college now, I decided that the girly-teen-girl feel was not what I wanted...at all !Most of the girl's rooms that I've been in  have some type of animal print or paisley....I wonder when they'll grow out of that.

The Panoramic view
As you can see, our sides are completely different.

For future dormees, if you can choose the side of the room that is farthest from the door! You get more space, and you don't have to deal with slamming doors, and you get control of the window, which is crucial if you're a blogger. :)

I had my mind made up that if I was going to put any type of posters or pictures on my wall, they had to be in black and white. and for a while, my walls were naked until my school had this fabulous poster sale! I bought a poster of San Fransico and a FAT ASS poster of Audrey Hepburn! :D Like how I spiced up Audrey by giving her a nose and Monroe piercing?

Alsooooo, I have my favorite quote of all time by my favorite artist of all time! "I"m the drug in your veins..." from the song What you Need by The Weeknd. <3 I swear 9/10 girls dorm rooms that I've been in have some cliche quote like "Live, love, laugh." "Faith and Love" "Love and Happiness"...you get the idea. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's just severely overdone. Where did all the originality go?

I bought all of my fluffy pillows from Ross and Walmart, and also the throw blanket. The bows, little candle holders, and beads are from Hobby lobby. Hobby Lobby is the mecca for cheap dorm decorations! Go there first before wasting your time else where.

My desk area that I spend so much time at. I don't know how I lived with out a desk for so long, my productivity has increased ten fold! I put all of my personal items in my desk as well, because I came with a crap lode of stuff. I have everything a girl needs in there. Hair products, skin products, body sprays, oral hygiene products, etc.

My closet. The mirror required me to drill no halls into the walls/door. It came with two metal bars that allow me to let it hang from the top of the door! :D The closet is decent. Has enough room for one person and most of their belongings. The sink area. Meh. It's just a sink.

Here's a different angle! Overall, I adore my room. I cherish the time I get to spend in it when I have time, besides sleeping, especially when I'm alone. My only problem I have is that they're expensive, the walls are as thin as crackers and you can't control the temperature. I will definately be living in an apartment sophomore year! But for now, this will surely do.

Here's a video if you prefer live action:

Mean Green Fling 2012

The Mean Green Fling was my very first college event that I attended at UNT, which is really lame, because there are several events all week...The Mean Green Fling was a social event to get different people from all walks to come to gether and basically just have fun!

It was held the day before classes began to ykick off the new school year! They say that 450 clubs, schools, venues, sponsors, frats/sortities were there. It was a hot and sweaty day but I went home with a lotta free goodies and freeeee food!

Of course they had live music. I'm not sure if they were students or not, but she was such a good singer~ She did a cover of one of Rihanna's songs and I'm pretty sure she covered Waka Flocka too.

The Chi Omegas. Looking all cute and stuck-up. <3

The Sigmas(?) Sign.

They were giving out free massages. My friend say he was to rough and that it hurt like hell.

Honestly, Jimmy Johns wasn't what I expected. So not worth the hype. Or maybe it was because they put mayo on my sammich, which I hate. But those snow cones were so goood! The shaved ice was so soft and refreshing.

I know this guy had to have been sweating gallons in that suit.

Me with this cutie penguin! :D

So yeah. This was a pretty pointless post, but I'm gonna look back on this one day and be glad that I decided to take the time out of my day and blog about it :)
The memory has been officially preserved.

Dorm Room Essentials

I'm going to college this fall, you guys! I don't know how many times I'm going to say that on this blog but--
I'm going to college this fall you guys! I'm shipping off to my dream university in the fall!
My excitement can not be contained. This post will be about Dorm Room Essentials.

Here are just a few items that will be jazzing up my dorm room. The theme is black, with turquoise accents (my favorite color btw). My room at home is 100% turquoise, so I deiced to stick with it so I won't miss my room to much. :'( And the black? It adds sophistication.

This laundry basket is a decent size. It's not as big as I would like it to be, I have a truck load of clothes. But, hopefully, this will encourage me to wash clothes more often. It was $15 from Ross.

Do you know how hard it is to find Twin XL bedding?! It is a bitch! I understand the main reason is because only college dorms have twin xl beds and you don't usually find that size mattress in the average home. I have the standard twin sized bed myself! and honestly, my bed at home and the beds at UNT look like the same size to me. :/ What is it? A 5inch difference? Pah.

Target has got your back though. Especially the target where my college is located, they were stocked FULL of dorm bedding. They even had Twin XL mattress pads. Very convenient. The comforter was $50, and the sheets were $20.

Pillows so my bed won't be boring, and a throw blanket for decoration, or if I need to lend it to a fellow resident because they're in sexile. ^_^;
Just a couple hours ago, I also bought bath rug, so I or my roommate won't trek water on the floor as we come out the shower. As for decorations? I still have lots of shopping to do. I have no little statuettes or pictures of friends (not like I have many anyway), or awesome posters. I don't plan on going all out, seeing as how I won't even be spending to much time in my dorm. It's basically just going to be where I sleep and change clothes. But still, I want it to look a little nice, y'know?

My College Freshman Orientation Experience [PICTURE HEAVY]

I've said this a few times, but I finally graduated high school, whoo~! and now, I'm off to the gorgeous University of North Texas. It is about 5 hours away from where I live, and I'm completely happy with that. I am ready to go. Class of 2016 is going to be a good one.

Anyway, I had my freshman orientation last Sunday, and it lasted for 3 long days. I met a bunch of amazing people, did lots of walking and snapped plenty of photos!

The dorm I stayed in was bigger than expected
(all images clickable)

Here is a panoramic sweep of the room. It was located in Kerr Hall.

The beds are adjustable. The room had plenty of drawers and shelves. Even the closets had dressers in them. This isn't the official dorm I will be staying in, it was just temporary. I can't wait to decorate my room, it's gonna be black and turquoise. :D

Here's a live action video! I included the bathroom and the inside of the closet.

My temporary roommate was a total sweetie as well! :') <3

Me in front of the Dorm Hall I'll be permanently staying in.

UNT has such a beautiful campus. I couldn't capture all of its glory through my camera. I'm not that great of a photographer just yet! The scenery was so lush and green! There's trees every where and cute little squirrels running around. Above the the eagle statue and the Administrative building.

The Orientation leaders put on a little skit for us. It was really cute, they discussed real college issues that students face such as: Love, Suicide, Stress, Discrimination etc. and what the staff can do to help. The OLs were so spunky and they truly did make orientation fun for every one!

This is the Health and Wellness Center. Basically a mini hospital. Students can get shots here, get their eyes checked, get medicines, you know all of that good stuff...and it's free or at low cost!

This is the cafeteria in Kerr Hall during breakfast time.

and the breakfast I had. It was buffet style, and I was so tired and starving I picked up almost everything. The strawberry yogurt was yummy, the muffin was good with my coffee. The coffee was surprisingly fresh, aromatic and tasty. I didn't have to kill it with sugar, but those waffles...The blueberry one was okay, and the  plain one was plain. o_o Whatever, I was hungry.

The whether in Denton is nice, not scorching hot, and not humid. There are plenty of benches to sit on and just chill, until class starts. I saw a few people on their laptops with their shades on enjoying the sun.

 The College of Business

The fountain.

The Library is about 3 stories high. and there's a couple cafes in there like this, so you won't have a rumbly tummy while studying.

More green scenery. So many benches and parks~ the students here def. love nature.

Goodness gracious, UNT is so huge, I kept getting lost and I had to use my GPS to navigate campus. :( I looked like such the obvious freshman with my dorm key around my neck. Hopefully, I'll get cool points later.

and then there was the student Union. To me, it was basically like a mini-mall. They have a bank located in side, a food court with big names like taco bell, chik-fil-a, and they even had a sushi bar. but of course they had atleast 2 cafes. Seriously, if you ever need coffee, a cafe is right around the corner no matter where you are.

They had what seemed like a mini- Barnes and Nobles! They sold apple computers and iPads, and even beats headphones. ^_^

and they had these CUTE Hello Kitty UNT shirts. Expensive tho. I plan on getting one as soon as I get my refund check.

Our NEW football stadium! Can't wait to attend all the tail gate parties.

and this was the last picture before my camera died. The coach gave us all a pep talk on the field! :D
I had a blast at UNT. I love that school so so much, my blood is green. The professors inspired me so much, I can't wait to write my first paper and have my first class. Everything was better than I imagined, and now I'm just counting down the days until school starts.
Go Mean Green!

My orientation group. I'm the only black girl, ya can't miss me.
